Embellished by hand with golden ink. In this evocative artwork, I delve into the theme of overcoming fear and embracing change. I have struggled with agoraphobia and panic attacks for a number of years, which led me to isolate myself and hide away. Particularly within the past year, I have pushed myself to try things and go out regardless, with the intention of making the world seem less scary and expand my comfort zone. I’m sure everyone has a fear that stops them growing in life. I used fish imagery because when you move fish to a larger pool, they will grow into it. There's also an idea of evolution; at some point fish had to go on land in order to grow legs. I had to step into my fear in order to overcome it; a technique known as exposure therapy.
